2026 Winter Olympics Open With Dual Cauldrons in Milan and Cortina

The 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics are officially getting underway after years of preparation by athletes and host nation Italy.

American ski legend Lindsey Vonn, who suffered a crash in her final downhill race before the Games, has confirmed she will still compete despite a ruptured ACL.

The United States will send its largest Olympic delegation ever, with 232 athletes. That group includes 98 returning Olympians, several of whom are multiple-time medal winners.

The official start of the Games comes Friday with the opening ceremony, featuring the Parade of Nations and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron. The Olympics will run from Friday through Feb. 22.

Fans can stream every event and medal moment from the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics on Peacock.
