Grady Demond Wilson, best known for playing Lamont Sanford, the son of Fred Sanford on the NBC sitcom Sanford and Son, has died.

Wilson was pronounced dead Friday morning at his home in Palm Springs, California, according to his son, Demond Wilson Jr., who spoke with TMZ. He passed away due to complications related to cancer, though the specific type was not disclosed. “I loved him. He was a great man,” his son said.

Professionally known as Demond Wilson, he starred on Sanford and Son from 1972 to 1977, becoming a household name for his role as Lamont. He later played Raymond Ellis during the single-season run of Baby… I’m Back! and went on to star in The New Odd Couple, which aired for one season in the early 1980s.

Wilson also appeared in films, including the 1993 movie Me and the Kid. After stepping away from acting for nearly two decades, he returned to the screen in 2023 with a role in the drama Eleanor’s Bench, according to his IMDb page.
